Marketing Plan 2 Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words
Marketing Plan 2 - Essay Example The product that Delicious Food Restaurant will be bringing to the Chinese market would be unique and specific to the Chinese market. The product would include a variety of supplies in the main category of the fast foods. Some of the introductory products could include Chinese Fish Flavor and the Chinese Chicken Flavor. The flavors that the company would adopt include delicious indigenous flavors. The term indigenous would fit perfectly in the trademark description since the products would involve the most important food products to the Chinese culture, which include chicken and fish. The color of the products would vary with the product type. However, most of the flavors would have a golden brown color. In the same way, the shape would vary. For instance, the foods with fish flavors would be prepared with a fish shape so that it would be easier to identify them. Additionally, chicken flavors may be prepared having a shape of a chickenââ¬â¢s wing. Packaging would only be done on a customerââ¬â¢s request. The packaging would include degradable material such as paper packages that have specific identification to the company as the main labeling along with some information concerning other available products. Chinese population has been in a constant rise where the country has above 1 billion people. This population is very promising for the company since the large the population the higher the probability of acquiring a large market once operations commence. Consumer preference shift from the traditional foods is causing an expansion in the fast food market each day. In fact, China is one of the biggest fast food markets globally implying that it presents endless opportunities for the companies venturing into the market. The Chinese fast food market increased in revenues by approximately 13% annually reaching an approximated $94 billion by

Recruiting creative workforce Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words
Recruiting creative workforce - Essay Example To improve quality and effectiveness, the organisations realized that something would have to change. Now the recruiting departments measure how well its recruits subsequently do' Did they turn out well, or did they need remedial help' Increasingly, recruiting is an essential tool; our competitors recognize that it is a competitive weapon. To land a production job at Toyota, for instance, takes at least 18 hours. Once prospective employees complete a general knowledge exam and they are tested in their attitude toward work, the company then takes the top 30 percent and scrutinizes them the way American organisations do their managers. (Leopold, 2002) These promising candidates go in groups of 12 to interpersonal skills assessment centres run by Kentucky State University for a session on problem solving. Prospects are then given a hypothetical problem and told, for example, "that a lawn mower manufacturer has production problems. The winners ask the right questions and work together to find solutions" (Sparrow, 2004). Candidates also go through a manufacturing exercise and are asked to improve on the method they were taught. Less than 10 percent of applicants survive the final probing interviews. Most UK firms do not go through such an extensive recruiting process as Toyota, but they are getting more serious about it. It may be just in time. It is estimated that since most of the baby boomers now hold jobs, the work force will slow way down from 2.4 percent in the 1990s to 1.2 percent in the 2000s. The Bureau of Labour Statistics estimates the number of jobs will grow faster than the labour force (Bernstein, 2002). Organisations will have to appeal to different groups, notably women and minorities, who will make up two-thirds of the new work force. Finding and keeping quality employees are the battle cry of the 1990s. The senior vice president of corporate relations at K-mart UK, says, "For UK corporations, tomorrow' s competitive battle will be won or lost on the strength of their ability to build and retain a skilled work force" (Gilley, 2000). Everyone is talking about the labour shortage, but it seems to be a matter not of shortage but of finding and keeping the right people. There are always people, but not necessarily ones that meet our needs. Once they are found, it is a matter of being able to keep them. One company that has a good track record on both of these accounts is a medical organization that is one of the best managed in the world: Merck & Co. Arthur F. Strohmer, executive director of Staffing and Developments, emphasizes that Merck places heavy emphasis on meeting very high standards in its recruiting activities, for example, targeting certain schools as being the "best" for the disciplines it needs. Merck, like Motorola, bases much of its campus recruiting on the past performance of employees who have come from certain schools. Many organisations try to do the same thing. Either consciously or unconsciously, organisations keep returning to the same source for personnel. Whether they are truly successful or at the mercy of random selection depend on how organized they are. Many managers make choices based

Coping As A Stepmom
Coping As A Stepmom As far back as I can remember, the one thing I always wanted to be was a mom. I had dreams of being the perfect mother, giving and showing love and affection to my children and having them give that same kind of unconditional love back to me. Unfortunately, that was not meant to be. It seems God had something else in store for me, something that I wasnt totally prepared for, and that was the role of a stepmom. Helping to raise one child that is not biologically yours is difficult, imagine having three of them. Coping as a stepmom is truly a work in progress, filled with rewards and challenges, and many of those challenges have to be dealt with through understanding, compromise, and love. My adventure in becoming a stepmom began on October 29, 2005 the day I married my husband and his three children. He had been divorced from his ex-wife for four years when we finally tied the knot. When I met him in 2004, he had been a bachelor and single dad for three years. Of course, he and his kids got use to being together and doing things together, so it wasnt easy trying to fit in especially for and with the kids. They quickly let me know they had a mother and werent too interested in having another one. One challenge we had to address early on was what were the kids going to call me. When we first met, they called me Miss Sheryl, and that was okay because it was respectful. They didnt know that their father and I were really serious about each other, and had been talking about the possibility of marriage by the time I was introduced to them (which was 4 months after my husband and I started dating). Right before we got engaged, I remember saying to the kids that they should drop the Miss, and just call me by my first name. That was simple, and didnt sound so informal and unattached. The youngest at the time, 9-year-old Trey, and oldest, 13-year-old Haley, thought it was a good idea and made the change right away with no problem. On the other hand, it wasnt easy for the middle child, 10-year-old Lunden. She had the hardest time because she was not ready to let go of the idea that maybe her parents would get back together. Once the engagement was announced and wedding plans were under way, she came around. Out of the blue, she just started calling me by my first name. When the conversation came up as to what they should call me after their dad and I were married, I told them to continue calling me Sheryl. I didnt want to put any pressure on them to call me something that would make them uncomfortable. Parenting experts say in their desire to present a close-knit family image, step parents and parents often push for relationship terms as mom and dad, or mama and papa, or straight mother and father. They go on to say that for the kids, these terms could symbolize the replacement or loss of the biological parent, and instead of unifying the family, it can put up a barrier (Visher, Visher, 1982). This is certainly not what I wanted to happen. By allowing them to continue to call me by my first name, which is what they were use to and most comfortable with, the transition from dads girlfriend to wife and stepmom was seamless and painless in that respect. I know Im not their mother, and the last thing I wanted was to add to their stress level of feelin g disloyal to their mom because I was in their lives now. Speaking of their mother, the relationship between the two of us started out a little shaky. I must say this was one challenge that I didnt think would ever come to a peaceful solution, but it has to some degree. The first time Sharon and I met was awkward. My husband and I were still in the dating mode when we went to pick the kids up for a 4th of July picnic in the park. I tried to be as cordial as possible, but she wasnt having it. She gave me a quick and cold hello, and then went about her business of talking to my husband and her kids. I remember telling one of my girlfriends that I had never been treated so rudely, and that if she was going to treat me that way, I could easily reciprocate. But my girlfriend explained what Sharon was probably feeling because she herself felt the same way when she met her exs new girlfriend. Consequently, she told me to always keep the best interest of the children at the forefront. Audrey Seaton-Bacon, Ph.D., a licensed psychologist in Whittier, California says having your little ones see birth parents and step parent working as a team is valuable and helpful (Hunter, 2006). I have found that to be so true. When my step kids first heard that their parents and I actually sat down together to talk about them, I sensed they were shocked and relieved. My husband, his ex-wife and I try to keep the lines of communication open at all times. Author Anne Burt says this is the most important thing. She also says no matter how much dislike there may be between a biological parent and a step p arent remain respectful and never show any hostility or resentment in front of your child its important for mother and stepmother to be grown-ups (Burt, 2007). Now we all attend school plays, concerts, and other events as a family as much as we can be as a family without discomfort. A childs public events should be an opportunity for the whole family to bond (Burt, 2007). I think once my step kids mom realized that I wasnt a threat to her and she could never be replaced, she became less jealous of me and now shes even friendlier. That has been a positive for all of us. The kids love and respect her as their mom, and they give me the same as their step mom. Seaton-Bacon says its actually good for kids to develop a healthy attachment to a step parent (Hunter, 2006). We all agreed early on that when it came to the discipline issue, dad and mom would handle that. Like many stepmoms, I didnt want that responsibility for fear of resentment. On the other hand, I felt that my husband was too laid back and needed to improve in that department. It was hard for me to sit back and say nothing but I learned that was best. In one of her ten parenting tips for stepmoms, Rachelle Katz says when stepchildren misbehave, first focus your attention on your partner rather than the children. Let him know, gently and calmly, that you feel he needs to assert his authority in order to help his children grow and develop, and feel secure and protected. If he isnt capable of being a strong parent, then your life, his life, and your stepchildrens lives will suffer (Katz, 2010). This was and still is a touchy subject. No matter how gently I try to bring this to my husbands attention, he doesnt seem to take it too well. Im not giving up though, or backing down from sharing my feelings or thoughts on the matter. While trying to develop a cordial, working relationship with my step kids mom, I was also trying to find my place in the family structure. I know my husband loves me, but I had some hard truths to deal with the fact that he was married before, and that he had kids. I, too, was married before but did not have any kids. Therefore, my husband doesnt have to deal with my ex the way I have to deal with his. Extended family situations come up quite frequently, with his family or her family, and it takes a lot of patience and understanding to handle those situations. What seems to help me the most is remembering that I am his wife now, and my main role is to be my husbands wife and help mate. By doing this, I feel I have found my place. We are growing together and bonding as a family each and every day, and this process will continue for years to come. One thing that we had to do was come up with house rules that involved making changes and setting boundaries. At first, I always felt like an outsider, and I think that had a lot to do with not knowing what I was allowed to do or say in my own home. Once we established the house rules that each of us had to abide by, I was finally able to speak up, based on whether or not the rules were being followed. In her book, How to handle your husbands kids, stepmom and author Jacquelyn Fletcher says this is when she finally got some relief. One house rule for her family (and mine as well) was to keep common areas clean. Fletcher says she finally got to say, Hey guys, remember we have to take our toys upstairs. House rules (McKinnell, 2007). Just like her, I was finally able to say what I needed to say without holding back and holding it in. The new rules also helped my husband and I grow closer because we found common ground and a way to parent together. When everyone in the family knows the house rules, you and your partner can back each other up when a transgression occurs. Working together as a team is important for you as a couple and teaches children that they cant divide and conquer (Katz, 2010). As my stepchildren and I have grown closer, weve developed quality relationships. The three of them have very distinct personalities and have to be treated accordingly. Parenting experts say enjoying time with your stepchildren is a necessity. Now that theyre all teenagers, Ive found ways to hang out with each of them that they enjoy. The oldest and I go shopping together. Our tastes in clothes are very different due to our ages, but she seems to value my opinion, and asks my advice. My middle stepdaughter and I spend a lot of time just talking. She is the one that needs lots of attention, and always seems to have something on her mind that she needs to discuss, so I provide that listening ear. My 14-year-old stepson is easy. Hes very creative and outgoing. Right now he is into writing song and rap lyrics. He asks for my opinions and suggestions all the time. The fact that I show an interest in what hes writing and why hes writing it has made all the difference in our relationship. H e is always thanking me for my support. The book, The Happy Stepmother, states that in order to have a good relationship with your stepchildren, youve got to spend some quality time with them. Since quality relationships are built from one-on-one interactions, spend private time with each of your stepchildren. Find common interests and activities, such as a hobby or a sport, to do with them (Katz, 2010). It has taken some time, but we understand and accept each other without any added pressure or stress. We feel what we feel, and thats okay. Love is an emotion that cant be forced. If you love your stepchildren, thats wonderful. If you dont, thats also acceptable, as long as you provide kindness, compassion and respect to them. No more and no less should be expected of you (Katz, 2010). I found that to be so true. Once I realized that I didnt have to love my stepchildren right away, and that they didnt have to love me back right away, it was easier for us to bond. All we had to do wa s be nice, kind, and respectful to each other. Finding the right family blend in a stepfamily situation can be difficult at best. There are so many obstacles to overcome and feelings to consider, but these family units can become strong. It has taken a lot of hard work but we have built a foundation based on trust and good communication skills listening and talking to each other. We know that were different from normal or first families both structurally and emotionally. An article written in 1997 for The Coalition for Collaborative Divorce states that stepfamilies would be the most common type of family in the country by the year 2010 this year! So maybe were normal after all. And weve already taken on some of the helpful actions listed in the article to deal with common stepfamily challenges and develop a happy and successful stepfamily life. As I mentioned before, we find time to sit, talk and listen to each other about what we were feeling. Dealing with and recognizing emotions are important factors when building a strong family unit. It is wise to assume that people have good reasons for their emotions and reactions, even if the reasons are not obvious. This attitude helps build respect and trust (Aronsohn, 1997). Weve come up with a new family tradition. Once a month, we get together for the Williams Family Gathering. This includes my husbands immediate family (his mom, siblings, and their families). This is where we all come together, bring a dish or two, and rotate eating at a different home. This is quality family time that we value and look forward to doing. This simple routine allows a sense of something stable, something to count on, something this family does (Aronsohn, 1997). My step kids are always asking when and where this month. They absolutely love it, and its something that wasnt done before I came along so it really is our new tradition. This extended family togetherness is good for our immediate stepfamily. The love, care and concern thats shown when I interact with my in-laws has also helped me to build solid relationships with my step kids. In conclusion, coping as a stepmom is not the same as the role of mom. It can sometimes seem like youre on a roller coaster ride that never stops. The frustrations, misunderstandings, and hurt that are part of that ride are too much to bear at times. Stepmoms have to tread lightly and cautiously. Every situation is different and needs to be handled in its own way. Weve had our ups and downs over the last 5 years, and Im sure well have many more. But now we have a stronger foundation from which to work from. We just need to accept and address each issue as it comes up. This work in progress will continue to remind us of the valuable lessons weve learned like understanding and compromising to develop stronger, more loving, and successful relationships between us. By working together and appreciating each others role in our blended stepfamily, weve reached some common ground that seems to be working for all of us. The challenges have not come without rewards. And one of those rewards was huge for me. During a celebration for my 50th birthday this past March, my three stepchildren stood together at the podium and told our family and friends that they consider me more of a mom than a stepmom. That was music to my ears. They admitted Ive made a difference in their lives and the life of their father. When they said how much they loved and appreciated me, it brought tears to my eyes. For the first time, I felt like Im doing something right as a stepmom.

Great Gatsby Essay -- essays research papers
F. Scott Fitzgeraldââ¬â¢s novel The Great Gatsby is about a man named Gatsby, in love with a woman, Daisy, who is married to Tom Buchannan. He dreams that one day he and Daisy will get together. Gatsby has worked hard to become the man that he believes will impress Daisy. Even though he has an extravagant house, lots of money, and wild parties, he is without the one person he wants, Daisy. Even befriending Nick deals with Gatsby getting Daisy, because Daisy is Nickââ¬â¢s cousin. In a meeting arranged by Nick and Gatsby, Daisy is invited over for tea and she sees Gatsby. It seems as if time is suspended for a moment, as they look at each other both thinking something. Then Gatsby tips over Nickââ¬â¢s clock, symbolizing that he is running out of time to try to capture what he and Daisy once lost. Through the lonely and careless characters of: Jordan Baker Jay Gatsby, Myrtle, and G. Wilson, Fitzgerald is able to illustrate the lack of spirituality in this novel. à à à à à The main place in The Great Gatsby that shows the lack of spirituality is the Valley of Ashes, where Myrtle and her husband, George Wilson live. It is a bleak, desolate valley including only one building, a car garage. One day while driving around Tom and Nick stop off at the valley to see Myrtle, Tomââ¬â¢s mistress. Nick describes this valley as being: ââ¬Å"about half way between West Egg and New York... a fantastic farm where ashes grow like wheat into ridges and hills and grotesque gardensâ⬠(27). The co...

College Life Essay
College was always my main goal throughout my whole entire education life school was not for me but I managed to make it to college. I graduated from a Catholic High School with all boys who have already mentally allowed me to focus on other issues and concentrations of focuses. I still sometimes wonder what I am going to do with my major and completion of college. I need to know my future and when I leave for school I am going to have to use my morals and higher education to help me understand and cope with other everyday experiences. There are three main categories of things that I want to gain in my life experience. I want to gain moral things, also strengthen my personality, and gain a higher knowledge. After I graduation from high school, I had plan to do several things. The most important thing I plan to do is go to college, because there are so many other detractions other than a degree, from a college education I plan to pursue higher learning, to begin a career, and to make history in my family. Making history in my family is the most important thing I hope to gain from a college education. My mother was the one parent that parents graduated from college, I have two brothers and a sister who did attend college which motivated me to want to go to college; my other relatives a least graduated from high school. Taking a look back has motivated me to reach farther. Being able too graduate of a catholic department system and also a highly respected person in my senior class. I plan to make history in my family by being the first also to get a Degree in History. Pursuing higher learning, beginning a career, and making history in my family are things I hope to gain from a college education other than a degree. It is very important that I accomplish these goals so that I will have continued success. If I believe it, then I can achieve it. I am not after the meaning of life but by the grace of God I know all of these things that I know and able to learn more whenever possible. College is a step in my lifelong search for knowledge that will hopefully bring me closer to my goals. Lastly one thing I hope to gain from a college education is higher learning. Learning goes far beyond a high school education and is very necessary in todayââ¬â¢s society. It allows us to be familiar with our environment and everyone in it, and it allows us to maintain assurance of ourselves. A lot of us would be lost without any learning at all, and our world would be very confused. One must learn to do such things as apply math skills as well as be responsible and independent. I know that a college education would allow me to acquire this ability.

Snow Falling on Cedars by David Guterson - A discussion of some literary techniques used in the novel.
Snow Falling on Cedars by David Guterson - A discussion of some literary techniques used in the novel. The novel "Snow falling on cedars" by David Guterson is an excellent literary example wherein the author has made use of several literary techniques. These techniques have been effectively placed throughout the novel and help in moving the story forward. Even more importantly, the literary devices used by the author complement the various themes in the novel, like the discrimination in society and the internal war of the two war veterans - Kabuo Miyamoto and Ishmael Chambers. The three main literary techniques and devices that are worthy of discussion are the use of motifs, symbolism and allegory. These techniques have been used intelligently by Guterson and there are several instances of the same throughout the course of the novel. Let's discuss them one at a time.A motif is a literary technique that is used in a lot of literary works and is very important to novels. A motif is a technique wherein in specific words or phrases reappear several times in the text and help complement th e central themes of the novel.Ismael, or IshmaelThis is very much like the theme, but the difference being that the theme is a statement whereas motifs can be words or phrases used to represent objects or specific incidents from the novel. In "Snow Falling on cedars", the storm is one such motif that affects the understanding of various aspects of the novel, like the characters, the society and the courtroom. The rainstorm was what made Ishmael and Hatsue meet inside the hollow cedar for the first time as lovers, when "[Ishmael] saw that Hatsue was ... no matter how long he lived."(Guterson 110-112). The storm affected the Japanese-Americans at the concentration camps and Ishmael and other soldiers during the battle which cost Ishmael his arm . The storm is actually shown to...

Since hyphens (the shortest of the littleà horizontal lines) are used primarily in compound terms, you probably mostly encounter them when youââ¬â¢re trying to figure out when two or more words are functioning as one word. You tried the dictionary, but it wasnââ¬â¢t there. What now? Phrasal adjectives (also called compound modifiers) are words that work together to modify nouns. Some examples are ââ¬Å"Dumbledore-scented candleâ⬠(real thing), ââ¬Å"equitably distributed chocolatesâ⬠(not real thing), and ââ¬Å"high-paying jobs for English majorsâ⬠(juryââ¬â¢s still out). To figure out whether or not to hyphenate, start by asking yourself these questions: If I donââ¬â¢t hyphenate, can anybody interpret the phrase in a way I donââ¬â¢t intend? For example, a ââ¬Å"snuggly purple porcupineâ⬠is a porcupine that is both snuggly and purple (yes hug); a ââ¬Å"snuggly-purple porcupineâ⬠is a purple porcupine whose color looks soft (no hug). Both constructions are just fine grammatically, and which one you use just depends on what you mean. Does my phrasal adjective come after a verb? If yes, then typically you donââ¬â¢t hyphenate. For example, you could write ââ¬Å"My well-educated porcupine is well educated.â⬠You would make no sense, but you could take comfort in your grammatical excellence. Does my phrasal adjective end in ââ¬Å"lyâ⬠? Great. That makes it easy. No hyphens for you. You may comment on ââ¬Å"this writerââ¬â¢s disturbingly frequent references to porcupinesâ⬠with grammatical impunity. How many words are in my phrasal adjective? More than two? For the most part you can apply the rules above to get constructions like ââ¬Å"seventeenth-century purple-porcupine artworkâ⬠and ââ¬Å"chocolate-dumbledore-candle-eating English majors.â⬠Once in a while, however, it changes the rules for clarityââ¬â¢s sake, as in ââ¬Å"On the contrary, I find this writerââ¬â¢s not-so-disturbingly-frequent porcupine references charming.â⬠Omissions can also be taken care of with hyphens when you feel silly saying things like ââ¬Å"right-handed and left-handed porcupines.â⬠To get rid of any silliness, you may write ââ¬Å"right- and left-handed porcupines,â⬠using the dash to signal the omission. Prefixes are horrible things for hyphens. I wish I could spare you, but I canââ¬â¢t. You pretty much just have to look them up, either in your trusty dictionary or, failing that, your style guide. En dashes (ââ¬â) An en dash is a dash the length of two hyphens, and has almost nothing to do with hyphens (I share your relief). It is used as follows: between scores and number and date ranges to mean ââ¬Å"toâ⬠or ââ¬Å"through,â⬠as in ââ¬Å"The body of a porcupine is 2ââ¬â3 feet in length,â⬠or ââ¬Å"My teacher has asked me to read pages 1ââ¬â1,000,000 tonight,â⬠or ââ¬Å"I won the en dash contest 46ââ¬â3.â⬠with no spaces on either side of it. only when not preceded by the word ââ¬Å"fromâ⬠; tragically you have to spell out ââ¬Å"I was fascinated by porcupines from 12 to 22.â⬠only when you decide to write your numbers as numerals; if you spell them out, there are no dashes for you in ââ¬Å"I was fascinated by porcupines from twelve to twenty-two.â⬠in the case ofà directions, where you want to talk about your ââ¬Å"Seattleââ¬âChicago flightâ⬠(the en dash again means ââ¬Å"toâ⬠). There is one more case where you can use the en dash, and itââ¬â¢s really weird. If you want to describe a split between the right-wing and the left-wing porcupine political factions, it would be confusing to run it all together with hyphens since two distinctà hyphenated ideas are being joined: ââ¬Å"right-wing-left-wing polarization.â⬠Instead, you stick an en dash between your two hyphenated terms, like this: ââ¬Å"right-wingââ¬âleft-wing polarization.â⬠Even if the second term isnââ¬â¢t hyphenated but still functions as a unit, you would use an en dash, as inà postââ¬âporcupineà takeover. The en dash lets your readers know to take the words porcupine and takeover together and understand you are referring to the period after the rodent revolution. Swap the en dash for a hyphen and youre suddenly talking about the takeover that happened post-porcupine- that is, after all the porcupines died.à It is madness and a level of nit-pickery that you may ho pe to seldom encounter. Em dashes (- ) Finally, weââ¬â¢ve arrived at the one you actually can sprinkle throughout your writing when youââ¬â¢re not sure what kind of punctuation to use. Well, sort of. Em dashesà are the equivalent of three hyphens in length andà can replace commas, parentheses, and colons. Why would you make the swap? Mainly because you feel like it, or are being overrun by your other punctuation. Youââ¬â¢re also free to use them to indicate a break in thought or an interruption. Enjoy your rare grammar freedom as in the following examples: An interruption: The hospitalized writer reflected, ââ¬Å"Hugging the porcupine seemed like a good idea at the time, but- â⬠ââ¬Å"No, it didnââ¬â¢t,â⬠the porcupine-huggerââ¬â¢s friend interjected. Replacing a colon: Iââ¬â¢m going to change the subject now to something different- snakes. Replacing parentheses: Snakes are not as nice as porcupines- though they are nicer than spiders- and I thought my readers might be getting tired of porcupines. A break in thought: Your readers arenââ¬â¢t getting tired of porcupines- theyââ¬â¢re getting tired of dashes. Replacing a comma: You may be right- so Iââ¬â¢ll cap it here.

Applied Biology Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2000 words
Applied Biology - Essay Example This interruption of blood supply and thereby shortage in oxygen supply is normally caused by the collection of vulnerable atherosclerotic plaque, which is a combination of lipids and White Blood Cells, on the walls of the arteries. This plaque only results in ischemia, and will lead to minimal or extensive infraction or death of the myocardial cells in the heart. When this myocardial infraction happens, the structure and the function of the heart undergo sizable changes. Following myocardial infarction, there will ischemic cascade during which the affected cells will die. Then, the leukocytes and the fibroblasts start to migrate into that necrotic region, and so the death tissue gradually remodels into a dense collagenous scar. (Ingels, Daughters and Baan 1996). In addition, the damages that happen in the myocytes and extracellular matrix formation after myocardial infarction, changes the size and the shape of the left ventricle and heart, thus impacting its structure. This process of changes is commonly known as ââ¬Å"myocardial remodelingâ⬠. (Davis, Davies and Lip 2007). During that process of remodeling, the remaining functioning cells of the heart tries assume a different shape by enlarging itself and this is known as hypertrophy. By attaining this enlarged shape, those muscles will try to counter and manage the loss of synchronicity in the functioning of the muscles. These structural changes happen automatically, so the heart can compensate for the loss of key heart muscles. Thus, the function of the heart also gets reoriented after myocardial infraction, because its efficiency deteriorates due to the inability of the dead myocardial cells to aptly contract and thereby contribute to the heart beat and functioning. Even when the heart cells enlarge to compensate for the dead cells, it may not have the desired effect. That is, the enlarged cells may not be able to contract as forcefully and as effectively as the normal-sized and normal functioning cel ls. This restricted function will directly hinder the heartââ¬â¢s ability to generate expectant force during each beat or contraction, thus limiting heartââ¬â¢s functioning and itsââ¬â¢ pumping of blood for all parts of the body. In addition, the function of the electrical system of the heart, which initiates the signals for a contraction, could also get disturbed because of the changes in the structure of the heart after myocardial infraction. The disturbance will be in the form of irregular heart rhythms, which is known as arrhythmias, which is a serious and restrictive problem, and has to be treated through medication or through permanent pacemaker implantation. The structural changes could also activate ââ¬Å"systemic processes causing sequelae in many other organs and tissues, as well as further damage to the heart.â⬠(Davis, Davies and Lip 2007, p.10). Thus, these changes in the structure and the function of the heart happens in the form of a vicious cycle, lead ing to further deterioration of the heart, causing other serious complications, which includes total heart failure. 2. Heart failure is a possible complication of a myocardial infarction. Describe the signs/symptoms and explain the physiological changes that are causing them. Heart failure can be categorized and arbitrarily divided into Left-sided failure and Right-sided failure, with each exhibiting certain symptoms. However, Left sided forward failure could overlap with the right sided backward failure, and also importantly the right-sided heart failure could be caused by the left-sided heart failure. Thus, as both are interrelated, the patients could present with both sets of symptoms. Person being affected with heart failure could exhibit mainly the symptoms of shortness of breath and swelling,
